Her childhood life as a gooseherd is one of unreserved happiness, though already her sad fate haunts her dreams. She spends her teenage years with nuns who treat her with harsh discipline, causing her irreparable trauma. It seems that her one and only love is about to reach fulfilment when the boy wants to leave her. She won't let go, devouring his love completely. They lock her up in an asylum for the insane. It is there that she is found by a therapist. This film focuses on their relationship as they expose each other's personalities, raising the question, which one is the real patient?
