Talking Heads (Nights in the Gardens of Spain, Bed Among the Lentils, A Lady of Letters, Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet, Her Big Chance)
András Bálint
television

Alan Bennett, the successful British stage play writer, wrote Talking Heads, his series of monologues, specifically for the BBC. The summarised title of these monologues is borrowed from television jargon: it refers to a certain shot where the prominence and meaning of content takes precedence over action and sheer spectacle. This is what Bennett was striving for too. His humanitarian irony, richly textured narrative, and refined penmanship redeemed the glory of telling a simple (or seemingly simple) story of human existence - free of gratuity.

The television series was later adapted for the stage and was performed around the world. In Budapest, Bennett's monologues were brought to life on stage by András Bálint. Another two years later, these stories now return to their original format: in a new made for TV movie starring five wonderful actresses.
