He became a legend in his youth as the captain of the famous Golden Team, but adoration turned to persecution when he fled his homeland in 1956. His football skills enabled him to travel the world and he went on to achieve just about everything that can be achieved on the football pitch. He is still greatly admired in Hungary, Spain, Greece, Australia and across the globe. Puskás spent his life bringing people together from all walks of life as he adopted the mores of new cultures and learnt new languages, yet he always remained a true Hungarian in his heart. He loved life and lived it to the full. He became the most famous Hungarian in the world.
