The first stop is Varadin where King Emeric (Imre) mingled with the soldiers of his brother, who was rebelling against him, with nothing but his sceptre in his hands; then the scene shifts to the troops of Andrew II. (II. András) leaving Split for a crusade to determine how far Makó is from Jerusalem. The next part examines the disastrous defeat at the Battle of Muhi and follows a fleeing King Béla IV. in his flight to Trogir. The last part of the film takes a look at the fortress in Klis where the king's little daughter, Margaret (Margit) died - and where the pregnant queen gave birth to her ninth child, who was also named Margaret. She was the one who spent her short life on the Island of the Rabbits: Saint Margaret.
